These bullet points are some extrapolations from my studies on the Tao Te Ching (literally, "Book of The Way"), an ancient influence of Zen Buddhism in China and beyond.

  • Allow people to be the way they are.

  • Don't force change

  • Have no expectations

  • Accept change

  • Practice self-restraint

  • Compete with no one

  • Do not desire

  • Simplicity, patience, compassion are the three jewels of the master

  • Be gentle with yourself and others

  • Accept all as honored guests

  • There is no worse situation than having an enemy

  • Forgive yourself for the things you did while you were unconscious

  • Forgive everyone else for the things they did while they were unconscious

  • Live according to your conscience

  • Do not judge

  • Grasp at nothing, there is nothing to hold on to

  • Let the future arrive when it wants

  • Let the now be what it is

  • Let the past go

  • Move with the flow of the river Tao

  • Peacefulness is the foundation of all awakening

  • Grow awake and understand what is

  • Serenity is the source of all particular things

  • All things emanate from Tao

  • Returning to Tao is serenity

  • All things return
