A Bit More About the Third Eye

The first thing to say here is that the third eye does not look like an eye. It won’t even look like an eye in your mind when it’s right. It is a point of wisdom that awakens between your eyes at the top of your nose. All of these “mystical“ ideas of seeing into the future or seeing spiritual beings is just fantasy. You will gain no power, magical or otherwise. It is the flowering of your own wisdom.

The Buddha was the most famous third eye bearer, because he practiced wisdom diligently for several years, even going so far as nearly starving himself as an ascetic to gain further enlightenment. We know him as one of the great teachers, and he was. If you want to become like the Buddha, good luck! We would have to focus very powerfully on this Desire, and of course, the way to enlightenment is by letting go of Desire. However, the flowering of wisdom can come to anyone, if even only a little bit, by meditation and practicing mindfulness. If I even have a little bit of wisdom, it’s because I practice.

All the years I spent learning what not to do didn’t seem to translate into any sort of understanding until I slowed down. The meditative space you can find within yourself is the place where wisdom flowers. Anyone who diligently practices mindfulness meditation becomes a Buddha. For me it was when I started practicing loving kindness meditations. I don’t think you can jump ahead, but prayer only changes you anyway, so pray for peace and loving kindness.

This is not impossible to learn. Simply practice mindfulness in your daily lives, especially in meditation, and practice right living. The Buddha gave us the path; a path that was easier than his. We should walk it. It’s a worthy path. Be kind to yourself and others, and don’t react to every negative stimuli. Respond if you have to, but anger and resentment only wilts your flower. The whole reason I write this blog is because I wanna share that there is a place of peace within each of us. We will cycle in and out of it, but the peace is beautiful enough to stay on the path. It is very much like the voice of angels, and it doesn’t ask for anything in return. Again, this is not an impossible goal. Just slow down, breathe and be open to possibilities.

For most of us, our wisdom will only begin to flower in this lifetime, and that’s OK. Sometimes suffering has a way of bringing that transformation to bear faster, but I don’t know anybody who’s gonna volunteer for suffering even if it means wisdom. I certainly won’t.

Have a wonderful day
